DESCRIPTION

Adjacent to the Olympic Green and Beijing International Convention Center, Grand Skylight CATIC Hotel represents a new concept in the Chinese luxury hospitality market. Targeted toward business professionals, the hotel provides modern, affordable accommodations and engaging public spaces that acknowledge the importance of local culture.

Since designers always change their mind, I just choose the first phase of the lobby design, it is different from the final view.

PARAMETRIC DESIGN

Analysis and Decision

Choosing three elements (Wallpaper, Chandelier, Folding Screen) 

to put in one rectangular space (W 60', L 120', H 30').

Part 1 - Basic Frame

1.

Using Rhino Python Editor to create basic frame.

Part 2 - Wall Paper

Reference Picture

Change the settings of this picture, Size (28*58), Color (Black&White), Interpolate.

Using rectangular gird to create the circle to form the picture.

Change the picture to the Clamp and bake in Rhino to make the wallpaper pattern.

Part 3 - Chandelier

Using grasshopper to building basic shape the chandelier.

6.

Using Kangroo to build the similar shape and then baked in Rhino.

7.

Using Rhino to create the whole chandelier.

Part 4 - Folding Screen

8.

Create simple frame for the folding screen.

Using grasshopper python to choosing random circle.

10.

Then offset these circles.

Bake some circles to rotate.

Using Rhino to render.
